Trip Bruce returns as Team Director for the No. 9 Ultimate Chargers™ Racing Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series for the 2006 season with drivers Kasey Kahne, Scott Riggs and Jeremy Mayfield

Working with eight different drivers in 2005, he led the Busch team to a win at Kansas Speedway (Kahne), two poles at Charlotte and Phoenix (Kahne), two top-fives and seven top-10 finishes.

Bruce, a Richmond, Va., native, began his racing career at the age of 18, racing late models and grand stocks at Southside Speedway in Richmond. He soon became acquainted with fellow Richmond native Don Beverly of Don Beverly Racing. In 1989, he joined Don Beverly Racing as a mechanic and fabricator, igniting his successful career in NASCAR.

Over the next several years, Bruce worked for NASCAR Nextel Cup operations including Richard Childress Racing from 1994 to 1998 as a mechanic and fabricator, and Bill Davis Racing as car chief of the No. 22 team with driver, Ward Burton from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, Bruce joined Ultra Motorsports where he was named car chief for the No. 7 car driven by Jimmy Spencer. A year later, Bruce was chosen to lead Ultra Motorsports’ No. 2 entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as crew chief. Under Bruce’s leadership, the team posted one pole award at Richmond International Raceway and three wins – Martinsville with driver, Jamie McMurray and Darlington and Homestead with Kasey Kahne.
