Chris Andrews brings a wealth of experience to the position of Team Director for the No. 91 Dodge driven by Bill Elliott in select events in 2005. Andrews and Elliott also will be heavily involved in Evernham Motorsports' research and development program including the testing of new technology during the season.
In addition, Andrews will guide the program for the No. 79 Dodge in select NASCAR Busch Series events as well as serving as Team Director for Erin Crocker's limited ARCA series effort.
Andrews brings an engineering background and more than 10 years of motorsports experience to the position.
After earning his degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Purdue University in 1992, Andrews took his first job in racing at the Florida-based Quantum Suspension Technology (QST), supplying shocks and shock dynos to open-wheel and road-racing teams.
He spent three years as engineer and crew chief for Tom Gloy Racing's Trans-Am entries, working with such drivers as Ron Fellows, Dorsey Schroeder and Boris Said. He moved to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1998 with the Gloy-Rahal Team. In 1999, he joined RCR as one of the first full-time engineers in the organization.
Andrews served as a multi-team engineer for several seasons, working with every Cup and Busch team at RCR. In 2003, he served as team engineer for the Robby Gordon, helping the No. 31 team win both road-course events that season. He was the crew chief for the No. 31 team in 2004. |
